CDS fulfills its mission by offering a wide variety of programs to the community. Most programs fall into one of three areas:
Interface Youth Program : Through its Interface Youth Program, CDS operates three shelters for runaway, truant and troubled youth. These shelters act as crisis stabilization centers where kids and their parents can take a break from one another and begin working on family issues. Interface provides shelter, a safe environment, food, clothing and counseling to each child. Services are available 24 hours a day. The Centers are located in Gainesville, Lake City and Palatka and serve the CDS's entire eleven county area.
CDS offers specialized counseling services focused on troubled youth and people with substance abuse issues. Programs include:
Family Action : Short-term counseling to families with youth who are troubled, truant or runaway.
Drug Free Community Support Program : family focused counseling for youth with alcohol, tobacco and drug related problems.
Outpatient Services: Substance abuse prevention and treatment services offered through individual, family, or group counseling. Programs are offered for DUI, Federal Probation, and Alachua County Drug Court referrals only.
